Claire Coutinho appointed training minister

Claire Coutinho, the MP for East Surrey, has been appointed as a minister at the Office for Schooling.

She was appointed as minister for disabled people just final thirty day period, and became an MP in 2019.

She will join the section as a junior minister. Coutinho worked at financial investment lender Merrill Lynch and was training guide at accounting firm KPMG ahead of being elected to parliament. She’s also served as a unique adviser at the Treasury.

That usually means Coutinho is probably to swap Kelly Tolhurst, who was universities and children’s minister.

Tolhurst tweeted that it had ”been a privilege to serve as Minister for Educational institutions & Childhood. I have resolved that now much more than at any time, with the worries we deal with I want to concentration on supporting & assisting the people today of Rochester & Strood, symbolizing my constituents & corporations from the backbenches.”

Coutinho was privately education and learning at James Allen’s Girls’ School, in Dulwich. She researched maths and philosophy at Oxford.

All through her time at KPMG from January 2017 to July 2018 she led the firm’s sponsorship of the Metropolis Academy, in Hackney.

She was also co-chair of the Honest Education and learning Alliance operating group on numeracy.

Along with Keegan, she also sits on the advisory board for Onward, a “mainstream conservatism” consider tank that aims to enhance financial opportunities.
