Because Discover Excel Charter began piloting the swimming application in spring 2022, the classes have been a massive hit with college students. The college and the Boys and Girls Club partnership has expanded to allow for 3 classes in the drop, winter season, and spring.

On the February early morning, second grader Supriti Collins was eager to get back in the pool. It was her 3rd round of swim classes because the charter school partnered with the Boys and Women club final spring.

Wilson said these classes are also a motivator, anything learners look ahead to.

“They love it,” Wilson stated. “It builds their self-assurance. Each time they get better and better.”
