West Lothian faculty ‘devastated’ right after loss of life of 14-12 months-old boy


A 14-year-outdated boy has died after an incident at a West Lothian school that has remaining staff members and pupils “devastated”.

Emergency expert services were referred to as to St Kentigern’s academy in Blackburn on Tuesday afternoon. The school explained the incident, which is recognized to have associated two 14-year-old boys, took area within just the grounds on Tuesday lunchtime. A pupil was taken to medical center but died soon just after.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “Around 1.20pm on Tuesday 6 June 2023, officers have been identified as to a report of concern for a 14-year-previous boy at a university in the Bathgate region.

“He was taken by ambulance to hospital for cure, but died a short time afterwards. His family have been knowledgeable and inquiries are ongoing to establish the complete situations of the loss of life.”

Talking to media on Wednesday morning, the headteacher, Andrew Sharkey, claimed: “Everyone in our school local community has been devastated to find out of the tragic death of a single of our pupils. Our views and prayers are with their family members and buddies and we prolong our deepest condolences and presents of assistance.

“We have set up ongoing psychological help and signposting for learners and personnel influenced by this tragic news. We would like to regard the family’s privacy at this very unpleasant time.”

He added: “We are aiding the appropriate authorities with their investigation to build the info and we will not be producing any further remark at this time.”

Law enforcement officers ended up present at the college on Wednesday and school workers escorted pupils to bus stops and ready autos at the conclusion of the college working day. A solitary bouquet of bouquets was remaining around the entrance, signed from “a former pupil”.

St Kentigern’s is a Catholic detailed college of about 1,300 pupils, with former pupils like the singers Lewis Capaldi and Susan Boyle.

Area politicians expressed their sympathies. The Linlithgow MSP, Fiona Hyslop, tweeted: “My deepest condolences are with the household and mates of the pupil who has died at St Kentigern’s academy in my constituency. I hope individuals closest to him are provided the privateness they deserve at this tragic time. Pupils and employees I am absolutely sure will be supported via this period.”

Martyn Day, the Linlithgow and East Falkirk MP, tweeted: “My deepest condolences go to the household and mates of the S3 pupil at St Kentigern’s who unfortunately died yesterday right after an incident at the college.

“I would talk to everybody to regard the family’s privateness while a comprehensive investigation usually takes spot into this tragic incident.”
