The University of Warwick Donates £3.5 million to Help Students.

The University of Warwick has announced a £3.5 million package to help students and staff with the rising cost of living. The money will be used to provide bursaries for students from low-income families and one-off payments to employees. Members of the local community are also invited to use facilities on campus this winter.

A student who receives a bursary will get a 10 per cent increase in December. For undergraduates from households with an income below £16,000, their payment for 2022/23 will rise to £2,200.

Postgraduate research students receiving a minimum maintenance grant of £5,500 will also increase their payments by 10 per cent.

The university says the measures are designed to help those who are struggling with the rising cost of living, as well as to support the local community.

According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, the cost of living in the UK has risen by 4.5 per cent over the last year. This is the biggest increase since 2013.

The University of Warwick says it is committed to ensuring that its students and staff can afford to live and work in the area. In addition, the university is offering free membership in its sports facilities to members of the local community this winter. This includes access to the gym, swimming pool, and exercise classes.

The move comes as universities across the country face increasing pressure to do more to support their students and staff. In November, the University of Sussex announced a £1 million fund to help students with the cost of living. And last month, the University of Manchester said it was setting aside £5 million to support students who are struggling financially.
