Queen Mary uni signs partnership with Cornell

Through the partnership, Cornell’s Global Hubs brand will be extended to the UK, allowing students, staff, and alumni to study, conduct research or teach at both institutions.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Queen Mary University of London,” Colin Grant, vice-principal (International) for the UK institution, said.

“This brilliant partnership will allow us to build on our existing relationship to deepen and extend our international research collaborations, strengthen student and staff mobility and further develop our policy and research impact.

“This partnership will strengthen student and staff mobility”

“I can think of no better representation of Ezra Cornell’s founding principle of ‘any person’ than the opportunity for a student from the best university in the country for social mobility to travel to Cornell to study. In turn, we are excited to welcome students and staff from Cornell to our campuses and to our city.”

Cornell’s partnership is part of Queen Mary’s broader focus on North America, which established a regional office in Washington DC, in July 2021.

There are several strengths shared between Cornell and Queen Mary, including an international outlook, excellence in academics and research, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and a history of public engagement, the partners said.

The two institutions have previously collaborated on migration research, exchanged students with Queen Mary’s School of Business and Management, and QMUL has hosted Cornell study abroad students.

Both universities have committed to expanding student exchange to all faculties by 2021.

Cornell’s Global Hubs provides connections to strong peer institutions in other countries, regions, and communities around the world.

In addition to connecting directly with Global Hubs partners, Cornell faculty members serve as Hubs development advisors, ambassadors, and liaisons with Cornell colleges and schools.

Each Hub leader engages in and hosts partner visits, facilitates faculty connections and collaborations, and oversees joint seed fund awards for faculty at partner institutions.
