Nativity Story and Other Stories

My heart was filled with joy as I entered the infant school classroom. The children were dressed in Nativity Story clothes and singing carols. When they saw me, their faces lit up with excitement and expectancy.

All around the room, there were bright decorations of stars and angels, which only added to the festive atmosphere. In one corner of the room, a small group of parents had gathered to watch their little ones perform for them.

The play began with a flurry of activity as Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds took their places on stage. As they sang together, I found myself moved by their innocence and enthusiasm. It was almost like being transported back to when Jesus was born in Bethlehem so long ago.

The play ended with everyone gathered around the manger scene, singing ‘Silent Night’. Tears pricked my eyes as I looked around at the children and felt that special moment of kindness and love. This was a nativity play like no other – and one that would stay with me for many years to come

As I left the school, I could feel the joy in my heart that came from witnessing something so pure and beautiful. That night, as I lay in bed, I thanked God for allowing me to experience such an incredible performance by these precious little ones. And it is a memory that will stay with me forever. Thank you, Derby infant school!

Above all, that special Nativity play in 1986 taught me the true meaning of Christmas – it is a time of love and joy and a reminder that Jesus still brings hope to our lives. I am forever grateful for the magical experience and will never forget it. Merry Christmas to all!
