MSCS superintendent look for advisory committee wants to listen to from additional citizens

Members of an advisory committee guiding the search for a new Memphis-Shelby County Schools superintendent claimed they want the agency picked to direct the search to obtain additional responses from the group on what variety of applicant it need to appear for.

The panel, which includes reps from the university board and local advocacy and nonprofit teams, solved at a conference Friday that after the search firm is picked out — probably by Jan. 31 — it will be requested to do added surveys to capture added enter from pupils and businesspeople.

But faculty board Chair Althea Greene, who presided around the meeting, along with Sarah Carpenter, government director of Memphis Carry, reminded attendees that one cause the timeline for hiring a superintendent was moved up from July to April was considerations from the board and some others that the method would be much too sluggish.
