That spirit has been harnessed at Mr Oyarbide’s school, which was the trial site for a new approach to education called Accelerated Education. The results have been dramatic, with students making up to three years’ worth of progress in just one year.

“Our goal is to close the achievement gap,” says Mr Oyarbide. “But we’re finding that our students are not only catching up, but they’re also exceeding expectations.”

The key to the success of Accelerated Education is its focus on individualised learning. Students work at their own pace, with teachers providing one-to-one support.

“It’s a very different approach from the traditional model, where everyone is working at the same pace,” explains Mr Oyarbide. “With this approach, no one gets left behind, and everyone can achieve their full potential.”
