Adilah Binte Affandi was doubtful of herself and her vocation aims when she was a JC university student. But the second she joined the nursing programme at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, it was like a switch had been flipped. In this article, she talks about the ups and downs of her instruction journey, and how she found the path which is right for her, albeit a more time route.

Adilah Binte Affandi’s enthusiasm for healthcare began at a youthful age. While accompanying her aunt to a gynaecologist appointment, Adilah watched in wonder as the ultrasound captured the baby’s functions and actions. It was a thrilling moment for the six-year-outdated.

She also remembered the compassionate treatment her aunt gained from the nurses and medical professionals, who went above and over and above to make her aunt really feel at ease. Adilah recalled thinking at that moment, ‘I want to be able to do that for people today as well.’ The heat and empathy revealed remaining an indelible mark on Adilah, and she realized proper then that she desired to pursue a vocation in healthcare to support other people in identical situations come to feel risk-free, comfortable, and cared for.

Rapidly ahead to these days and Adilah is now thriving in her 3rd 12 months of the nursing programme at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), but this minute arrived just after a couple of challenging twists and turns in her journey.

When the time came for Adilah to select a route just after her O Amount, her mothers and fathers steered her in the direction of what they imagined was the ‘tried-and-true’ route. “They both went to JC and assumed it would be the best way for me to get into college,” Adilah explains.   

As a Science pupil in Catholic Junior College (CJC), Adilah took Physics, Chemistry, Arithmetic and Economics. Inspite of her greatest initiatives, she struggled with the workload, which in the end led to a absence of satisfaction in what she was carrying out.

Annoyed, she believed of quitting, but her parents remained resolute in their decision for her to continue on. Soon after a calendar year at CJC, Adilah transferred to Millennia Institute (MI), hoping that its 3-yr course would be a superior rate for her. 

Yet, she still felt disconnected. “I did not experience that my subject mixture aligned with my passions,” she claims. She at some point accomplished her A Level, but her grades could not safe her a spot in the college of her choice.
