This investment will provide new opportunities for graduates looking to embark on a career in early years teaching and staff looking to train as early-years special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs).
Evidence shows that access to early education is crucial in supporting children to thrive in adulthood and contribute to society. The Education Secretary Damian Hinds said: “We know that high-quality Early Years provision can be transformational for our youngest children.”
“That’s why we are committed to ensuring every child has the best possible start in life. We are investing £180 million to improve teaching early on and provide new opportunities for graduates and staff.”
Various organisations will deliver the programmes, including the Early Years Alliance, the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) and the National Literacy Trust. They will be available to all early years providers in England.
According to the government, the investment will help to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, have the same opportunities to succeed.
